Admission to the exhibition “The Brueghels: The Origins of Painting Genres in Europe” at the reduced ticket rate, an in-depth exploration of the artistic legacy of the Brueghel dynasty, from Pieter Bruegel the Elder to his sons Pieter Bruegel the Younger and Jan Bruegel the Elder. The exhibition places their workshop at the heart of the story as a true “brand” capable of transforming European painting.
Through scenes of peasant life, landscapes, battles, storms, and early still lifes, the Brueghels introduced an innovative and realistic visual language, contributing to the emergence of modern painting genres.
The exhibition explores this foundational role through comparisons with important Flemish, Dutch, and Italian artists, highlighting the lasting impact of their legacy on the history of European art.
The exhibition, held at Palazzo Reale in Milan, will be open from 1 October 2026 to 31 January 2027.
